Albert H DeBaillie Sr.

Albert H. DeBaillie SR., 94, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, in his home. Albert was born in South Bend, Indiana, to Leo and Rachel (Verbeke) DeBaillie, who proceeded him in death. Also proceeding Albert in death are his beloved wife, Deloris (Stopper) DeBaillie; daughter, Louise Odle; and sisters, Madeline Van Hoecke, Patricia Parish, and Mary McKeon.

            Surviving are his children, Katherine Harvey, Debra Phelps, Albert (Troy) DeBaillie, Carl (Jackie) DeBaillie, Frank DeBaillie, and Donna (Vernon) Odle; 35 grandchildren; 97 great-grandchildren; and 59 great-great grandchildren. Albert married Deloris Stopper on April 18, 1949. Albert and Deloris were married 72 years prior to her death in 2022.

            Albert worked for Gates Chevy World from age 19 until his retirement at age 69 cleaning and detailing cars. Albert enjoyed laying on the floor, in what came to be called the “Grandpa” pose, to watch All My Children and General Hospital, WWE Wrestling, and various game shows. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles and word searches, and playing dominoes, Skip-Bo, and Phase 10. Albert loved spending time with all his children and grandchildren.

            There will be no formal services. Hahn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the handling of the final arrangements.
