Charles Redman Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Redman, age 89, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 21st, 2024, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Charles was born in South Bend, IN, on June 19th, 1934, to Tony and Catherine (Heiser) Redman. Charles was a graduate of Riley High School.  Charles was a member of the United States Army from 1955 until 1957. Charles also served two years in France as a refrigerator technician. On October 25th, 1958, Charles married the love of his life, Thrasilla “Sally” (Spencer) Redman at St. Joseph Church of Mishawaka Indiana.

Along with his wife of 65 years, Charles is survived by his children, whom he loved very much, Christine (Jay) Forslund, and Kevin (Lara) Redman. Along with the love of his children, he was blessed to always be surrounded by his grandchildren, Spencer (Marcella Cloud) Forslund, Brittany Redman, Bailey Redman, Kendall Redman, and Landon Redman. Charles is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Charles is preceded in death by his parents Tony and Catherine (Heiser) Redman, his brother Richard (Andrea) Redman, one son Charles “Chuckie” (Terri Redman), and one grandson Joshua Redman.

Charles worked 35 years at Kroger Grocery Store, until he retired in 1994. After his retirement, he worked for HRK for 20 more years. Charles remained active in the Knights of Columbus. While Charles enjoyed his job and his career, his truest love was that of his family. He especially loved his wife very much, and spent as much time as he could being surrounded by his family, as it brought him the most joy. Charles was always known for being the biggest fan of his children, and grandchildren.  He made a point to travel and vacation regularly with his family.  Chuck and Sally would spend lots of time playing cards with Jim and Marilyn Solomon and especially loved playing the game of Backgammon with “Sol”.  He also enjoyed meeting Billy Redman and the gang for coffee at Allie’s Café.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25th, from 5-7 pm, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th St, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
