Florence Newcomer

Florence M. Newcomer, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Elkhart Meadows.

            Florence was born on June 21, 1931, in Plymouth, IN to John and Ruth (Cassler) Holdread. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Mary (Hal) Main, 3 great grandchildren, her brothers, Robert, Howard, Wayne, Elbert and Elson Holdread and a sister, Fern Woolington.

            On January 1, 1948, in Plymouth, she married, Clyde Newcomer; he preceded her in death in March 1977. Surviving are her children, Larry (Cheryl) Newcomer, Phillip (Janine) Newcomer and Kathleen (Richard) Bush; 10 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Lois Stoughton.

            She worked for Ziker Cleaners before retiring and then after retiring for several years she went back to work for Sam’s Club as a food demonstrator before retiring again. Florence was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Democratic Clubs.

            Visitation will be on Monday, April 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
