South Bend-Jodie Henderson Jr., was born March 21, 1988 in Rochester, New York to Jodie Henderson Sr. and Patricia Forrest. He departed this life on January 16, 2016 due to a hate crime.
Jodie was raised in South Bend, Indiana. He attended Mishawaka High School, where he graduated in 2007. Jodie enlisted in the army in 2007 shortly after he graduated from high school. He went to Fortworth, Texas in 2008 for training. In 2011 Jodie was deployed to Afghanistan, where he served our country proudly. In 2013 god sought fit for Jodie to come home and return with his family. When he returned home Jodie immediately started working as a bartender and waiter at the pub. Jodie had numerous jobs because he loved to work. His work ethic was of a person who just simply enjoyed life, saw the good in each task, and did not take any moments for granted.
Those that knew Jodie, knew that he loved everyone. Jodie is survived by his parents, Jodie Henderson Sr. and Patricia Forrest, step father, Marvin Maxie, second mother, Merliyn Moore. His three sisters, Heather McCallister (husband Charlie McCallister), Deanna Forrest, and Lucille Henderson-Bentin (husband Astin Bentin). One brother, Patrick Henderson. 16 nephews and 8 nieces, special G-momma, Catherine Forrest, host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Proceeding him in death one grandmother, Lucille Henderson of Rochester, New York, one grandfather, two uncles, Arnold Lee of Rochester, New York, Uncle Kevin, Cory Campbell, and one special friend Nick.
The viewing will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 2 p.m.-4 p.m. & 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The funeral will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 5 p.m. Both services will be held at Hahn Funeral Home located at 505 West 8th Street, Mishawaka, Indiana 46544.
