John V. Loring
March 1, 1933- December 8, 2018 Mishawaka- John Vernon Loring of Mishawaka, IN peacefully passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the age of 85 surrounded by his family.
John was born March 1, 1933 in Iowa to Mabel Frances (Ward) and Vernon James Loring.
John was raised in Tucson, AZ and attended the University of Arizona. He served during the Korean War with the US Army. Upon return, John transferred to Indiana University where he graduated with a degree in physics. John worked as an aeronautical engineer with Bendix, retiring in 1996.
On May 18, 1963 John married Clara Marie Miller in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, South Bend. Together they had two children, Kathleen (Patrick) Scheets and Thomas (Jody) Loring. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Julie (Jon) Bisceglia, Jonathan Scheets, Katie Loring and Christopher Loring. John lovingly felt great granddaughter, Jenna Kathleen Bisceglia, due March 2019, move in her mom’s tummy before he passed. He was also a surrogate father to James (Shelly) Schultz and grandfather to Jerry and Eric Schultz, and anyone who needed his loving touch. John is also survived by his sister, Marita (Chuck) Dome and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ward (Shirley) Lawson.
John enjoyed Belgian bowling at the BK Club, golfing and watching IU sports. He loved nature and all animals. Above all, John cherished his family and was an extremely loving husband, dad and grandpa. John and Clara enjoyed many travels together all over the world but loved spending time with family and friends most of all.
John will be laid to rest on Friday, December 14 at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka, IN with Military Rites. Visitation will be held at Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka on Thursday, December 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. and funeral service will be Friday, December 14 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
