Karen Carol Jackson
January 3, 2019
Mishawaka — Today, we celebrate the life of Karen Carol Jackson, who was called to be with her Lord and Savior on January 3, 2019.
Born to the loving union of Carol and Earl Arnold, Karen was raised in the vibrant atmosphere of Mishawaka’s West End neighborhood, where she developed a love for the rich and varied cultural heritage of her neighbors and friends and developed the strong work ethic and spirit of giving instilled in her by blue-collar parents.
After graduating with the Mishawaka High School Class of 1960, Karen continued her education at Indiana University, where she earned a BA in English and found the love of her life in the dashing young aspiring journalist, Charles, who wooed her with his debonair charm and his semi-dependable Triumph sports car.
The couple wed in 1966, creating an unbreakable bond of love and selfless compassion that would last nearly 53 years, never to waver or diminish through all of life’s triumphs and tragedies. The happy couple became parents to their beloved daughter, Jennifer, in 1971 and their devoted son, Adam, in 1974.
Karen’s legacy lives on in her loving husband and children, as well as her five beloved grandchildren — Montana, Cole, Maia, Felicity and Miriam Jackson — all of whom carry in their hearts Karen's spirit of giving, love of books and learning, and kindness for all creatures especially cats.
Karen will be missed by all those who felt her touch in their lives, but her spirit will live on in the love and values she instilled in those who knew her.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Coalbush United Methodist Church, Mishawaka. Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka, has been entrusted with handling the final arrangements.
