Amy Madelyn Remmo-Benjamin, 53, of Mishawaka, entered the Summerlands on January 31, 2023. Amy was born in South Bend, IN, on April 16, 1969, to Clyde and Susan Y. (Nowinski) Remmo. She grew up in the Michiana area and went on to work in the accounting field.
Amy is survived by her husband, Jeff Scherer; children, Sam J. Remmo of South Bend, Suzy A. (Bill) Kelly of Granger, Sharon F. (Clayton Bruntz) Remmo of South Bend, Summer M. (Viplav) Dwivedi of South Bend, Sydney A.J. (Jesse) Strean of Fredericksburg, VA, and Shelby L. (D.J. Stuber) Benjamin of South Bend; many loving grandchildren; mother, Susan Y. Remmo of South Bend; siblings, Julie S. Remmo-Walker of South Bend, Andrew L. (Dionne) Remmo of Loveland, CO, Matthew J. (Keri) Remmo of Buchanan, MI, Megan M. Remmo-Eggers (Andy) of Niles, MI, C.J. (Rebekah Otis) Remmo of McLean, VA, and Heidi (Eric) Baker of South Bend. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Kim Scherer; step-son, Tony Madison; step-daughters, Katie and Ali Scherer; step-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Amy was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Remmo; sister Jennifer L. Remmo; grandson, Will A. Kelly; mother-in-law, Karen M. Scherer and great niece, Amelia J. Laureys.
Amy loved nature and being outdoors. She enjoyed going to Lake Michigan and spending time in her mother’s backyard or outside gardening. Amy was very spiritual in her Wiccan beliefs. She held a deep love for animals, especially her cats. Above all else she will be remembered for her love of her family. Amy’s love for her children and grandchildren was unwavering.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, February 8th, from 4-8pm in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.
