Ancel “Gene” E. Wood

            Ancel “Gene” E. Wood, 93, passed away at home on Friday, May 2, 2025.

            Gene was born on August 10, 1931, in Eldon, Missouri to the late, Dorsey and Loyce (Runyan) Wood.

            On June 1, 1957, in South Bend, he married Paula Samuels, she preceded him in death on November 25, 1993. He was also preceded in death by a son, David Mahoney; and his siblings, Dwain Wood, Marcella Currance, Ruth Backeus, Jewell “Buck” Wood, Rosa Apperson, Joseph Wood and Stephen Wood.

            Surviving are his sons, Terry (Paula) Wood and Gerry (Evelyn) Wood; ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

            Gene was a Veteran of the United States Army serving his country during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, BK Club, Eagles 2083, American Legion 161 and VFW Post 360.

            Visitation will be on Thursday, May 8th from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a funeral service immediately to follow at 12 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
