Angela Tompkins Obituary

Angela Sue Tompkins, 65, of Granger, Indiana, passed away on July 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous 10-year battle with stage 4 breast cancer. Born on April 27, 1960, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Weldon and Betty (Hodge) Ford, Angela lived a life marked by faith refined through trials and strengthened by God’s grace. This beautiful woman will be remembered as selfless, generous, encouraging, compassionate, driven, joyful, resilient, creative, and a light.

Angela shared 47 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Charles Tompkins. Together, they raised two children, Autumn (Jeremy) Stout and Nicholas (Hilary) Tompkins, and she was affectionately known as “Grammy” to her eight cherished grandchildren: Camden, Cade, Colbi, Cole, Solomon, Stella, Louis, and Reese.

Angela retired as the office manager for the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Notre Dame, where her dedication, warmth, and professionalism left a lasting impact. Many of the friendships she formed there continued long after her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty, and her older brother, Ed. She is survived by her father, Weldon; her younger brother, Randy; her beloved husband, Charles; her children; and her grandchildren, who will continue to carry forward her legacy of faith and love.

A visitation will be held at River Valley Church, where she was a devoted member, on August 4, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the same location on August 5th, at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend and honor the life of an extraordinary woman whose faith, love, and joy touched so many
