Ann M Burkowski

            Ann M. Burkowski, 100, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, in Mishawaka. She was born on November 13, 1923, in Slaughters, KY to Roy and Chloe (Major) Carnal. Ann was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

            On August 21, 1948, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka she married, Florian R. Burkowski; he preceded her in death on May 25, 2011.

            Surviving are her children, Greg Burkowski of South Bend and Chuck (Vicki) Burkowski of Danville, IL, Kathleen (Mike) Weller of South Bend; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

            Ann worked at the OPA office during WWII to aid in the home front war effort, an office in Elkhart doing accounting, and taught Piano and Organ at Mr. Music. She then became a Church Organist for Willow Creek Methodist Church and East Methodist Church before she retired. Ann was passionate about genealogy and family history, dedicating countless hours to tracing her family’s roots.

            Visitation for Ann will be on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be on Friday May 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM, in Hahn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
