Ann Marie (Caperell) Hostetler - A Life of Love, Strength, and Devotion.

Ann Marie (Caperell) Hostetler, 52, whose unwavering love for her family and undeniable strength shaped every aspect of her life, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2024, after a yearlong battle with lung cancer.  She was born January 12, 1972, and graduated from Mishawaka HS in 1989. Her journey through life was marked by a fierce independence, a deep commitment to those she loved, and an unshakable faith that guided her every step.

Born into a family that valued resilience and compassion, Ann Marie was the proud granddaughter of Phyllis (Caperell) and Otho Wordinger. She was raised by her father, Don Caperell, and her deceased mother, Joanne (Baird) Caperell Portillo. Her stepmother, Kelly Caperell, also deceased, was very much a mother figure in her adult life.

Ann Marie was known for her powerful presence and her compassionate heart. A woman who loved deeply, she cherished her family above all else. Her love extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of her niece, nephews, and five grandchildren, each of whom felt her warmth and support. Her beloved dog, Rory, was never far from her side, and held a special place in her heart.

Her love for her country was evident in her proud support of the values she held dear. Ann Marie was a devoted Notre Dame fan, and her loyalty to the team was a reflection of the loyalty she showed in all areas of her life.

Ann Marie was not just strong; she was resilient, sometimes stubborn, but always determined, all qualities that served her well in both her personal and professional life. She built a thriving residential and commercial cleaning business from the ground up growing steadily over two decades, while simultaneously adapting to the many challenges of raising her children and attending college to complete her business degree with a determination that was nothing short of inspiring. She loved challenges and never shied away from them, seeing each one as an opportunity to prove her strength and resourcefulness.

Her strength was matched by her joy for life. Ann Marie was full of laughter, with a feisty spirit that made her both tough and endearing. She could be strong-willed at times, which was always tempered by her willingness to do anything for those she loved. Her compassion knew no bounds, and she was always the first to offer help to anyone in need.

Ann Marie was a woman of deep intelligence and a natural problem solver. She approached every challenge with a sharp mind and a practical sense, always finding a way to overcome obstacles. Her bravery in the face of adversity was a testament to her strong character and her deep faith in God. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring her to live a life of kindness and generosity.

Ann Marie’s legacy is one of love, strength, and unwavering devotion. Ann is survived by her father, Don Caperell, her brother Tom (Susan), her half-sisters Keldon and Hillary, her daughters Kelsey and Courtney, her five grandchildren, three nephews, one niece, and countless others who she considered family, were touched by her kindness. Her sweet dog Rory will surely miss her.She was preceded in death by her grandparents Phyliss (Caperell) and Otho Wordinger, her mother Joanne (Baird) Caperell Portillo, and her stepmother Kelly Caperell.
