Annette "Netta" Linson Obituary

Annette (Netta) Louise Maggioli Linson, age 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 30, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Annette, the youngest child of Ferdinand (Fred) Maggioli and Teresa Carabini Maggioli was born on December 29, 1925, and was a life-long resident of Mishawaka, Indiana. She attended St. Joseph Parish Grade School and graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1943. Netta’s competitive nature led her to take leadership positions in school activities. She was not shy about sharing her opinions which served her well in the many auxiliaries, clubs, and church volunteer positions she held throughout her life. One of her first accomplishments was to insist that her middle name be changed from Virginia to Louise (she thought it sounded more French).

On November 24, 1945, Annette was joined in marriage to Wayne Linson. The marriage mass was performed at St. Joseph Catholic Parish with attendants Louis Baldoni and Barbara Fore. Their early life together was humble; living upstairs in the home where Annette was raised and later in a house that required a bathroom be built. Wayne was a tradesman and together with his many construction friends, designed and built their home on 16th Street where they resided together for over 60 years. During their marriage they traveled to Canada’s Lake Victoria, Hawaii, Acapulco, Mexico and a multi- country tour of Europe. Netta stayed in contact with her relatives in Santarcangelo di Romagna, Italy.

Her family legacy includes the many specialty Italian recipes lovingly prepared for Christmas and other family gatherings and passed down to her family.

Her work history includes Ball Band while a high school senior and then after graduating. She was once featured on the cover of the company magazine. She worked in the office at Ziebart and did bookwork at home for Baldoni’s Restaurant. She was a stay-at-home mom while also remaining active in the Mishawaka community. She was a member of the De Amici Women’s Auxiliary, Mishawaka High School Reunion Committee and Birthday Club, and Mishawaka Firefighter Women’s Auxiliary.

Her beloved St. Joseph Catholic Parish remained a center of her life work and activity. She was a docent in 1996 for historical tours, she assisted in counting the Sunday collections, she was active in the Sodality of Our Lady (later the Rosary Society), she golfed in the church league and calculated handicaps. Her proudest though, was her 20-year membership in the St. Joseph Parish Choir and the 1996 trip to Italy to where the choir sang Chiesa di Sant’ Ignazio di Loyola for Pope John Paul II.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Wayne Linson July 24, 2004; and her four siblings: Helen Maggioli Baldini (August), Katherine "Kay" Maggioli Gorman (John), Vito "Vic" Maggioli (Elsie), and Achille "Chick" Maggioli.

Annette is survived by her four children: Brian T. Linson (Merna), Marlene Linson Brown (David), Curt Linson (Nancy), and Bruce Linson (Jenny); her four grandchildren: Brian "Bucky" Linson (Sue) Mishawaka, Indiana, Thomas Scheetz Orlando, Florida, Stephanie Linson Pinder (Robert) Brownsburg, Indiana, and Melissa Scheetz (Dan Smith) New York City; three great-grandchildren: Nicholas Pinder, Los Angeles, California, Emily Pinder, Atlanta, Georgia, and Rebecca Jones, Clarksville, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2022, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN from 9:00-10:45 am.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S.
