Arlene Smith

Arlene F. Smith, 80, passed away at home on Thursday, December 25, 2025. Arlene was born on April 4, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Elwood B. and Christina (Behm) Garber. On June 9, 1967, she married Richard “Rich” Smith. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2025.

Surviving are her children; Kristine (Scott) Teters, Michael (Becci) Smith, Jonathon Smith, David Smith and Edward Smith; grandchildren, Jessica, Andrew, Michaela, Olivia, Ashley, Miranda and Jacob; great grandchild, Caiden as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Arlene worked for various places throughout her life from insurance companies to housekeeping and Notre Dame but she cherished being able to be a mother and a homemaker the most. She was very family oriented and loved her grandchildren deeply.

Per Arlene’s wishes there will be no formal services. Hahn Funeral Home has been entrusted with assisting the family with final arrangements. Those wishing to donate in Arlene’s memory may do so to the Midwest Dachshund Rescue, 2023 Ridgewood St, Highland, IN 46322.
