Arthur Czosnowski Obituary

Arthur "Art" Czosnowski passed away peacefully the morning of January 15, 2025, at the age of 94, at Center For Hospice Care in Mishawaka, IN, surrounded by and remembered fondly in the thoughts of his family and loved ones.

He is survived by his four children; Quinn (Roberta) Czosnowski, Lynn Hill, Brenda (Carl) Kindig, Cindy (Mark) Kappes; five grandchildren Quinn (Lauren) Czosnowski, Christopher (Kristin) Kindig, Kallie Kindig, Michael (Jessie) Kappes, and Katelyn Hill; four great-grandchildren, Quinn, Amyah, Alec, and Boston; brother Paul (Jolene) Czosnowski, and extended family. He was preceded in death by parents Chester and Frances (Ewald) Czosnowski; his sisters and brother-in-laws Patricia "Pat" (Walter "Walt") Nowak and Rita (Gerry) Klosinski, and his son-in-law Kenneth Hill Jr.

Born on December 18, 1930, in South Bend, IN, he was the second of four siblings. After his time at South Bend Catholic High School, he worked at Studebaker in South Bend, before working at Pickerell's in Osceola. He then ran a wholesale florist business, Michiana Wholesale Florist, until retiring in 1995.

Arthur met his late wife, Marjorie (Sledzikowski) at a local dance, and they were married on January 13, 1951, spending 60 happy years together. They enjoyed travelling, going to casinos, and being at home, spending time with their children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Arthur also enjoyed playing card games such as poker and euchre, having a beer after a long day of work, and enjoyed watching and going to Notre Dame football games and Chicago Cubs baseball games. He had a laugh that could be heard across the room, and was looked fondly upon as "a nice man", "great guy"; "always fun to be around".

Arthur showed endless devotion to taking care of his wife through her later years with Alzheimers', until her passing in 2011. He would never hesitate to offer a helping hand to those around him, and instilled in each of his family members both the importance of supporting those around you, and never taking life too seriously. His sense of diligence, and his friendly, easy-going demeanor was a source of great comfort, companionship, and joy, even in his later years.

Through good times and bad, Arthur was hardly ever seen in a bad mood; never failing to crack a joke or make someone smile. His lack of seriousness could make some of his close relations sigh and shake their heads in amused exasperation, but nothing ever seemed to bother him. He was always content to enjoy life as it was, however, it was.

     He will be deeply missed.

As the sun was rising the morning of his passing, we had opened the blinds to let a little more light into the room. Out over the icy part of the St. Joseph River, flew a large bald eagle, with a bright shining head and a flash of white tailfeathers. It circled once, and then a couple times more, and then flew up and away into the clouds, out of sight of the building. "A first class ticket to heaven!"

The family would like to thank the Center For Hospice, especially those who assisted in room 9 during this past week, for their enduring compassion and care.

Visitation will be held on January 18, 2025, at 12pm to 2pm at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN, with a funeral service to follow in the Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at a later date.
