Barbara Harvey

     Barbara Brooks Harvey was born on March 6, 1948, at Owensboro Daviess County Hospital in Kentucky, to Charles and Susan Brooks of Hartford, Kentucky. She was a proud member of the first graduating class of the New Ohio County High School in 1966 and later attended Purdue Tech in South Bend, Indiana.

     Barbara was preceded in death by her first daughter, Linda Gaye Tichenor; her husband, Donald H. Harvey II, in 2008; both of her parents, and two nephews, Jeff and Benji Vibbert. She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Bill) Watterud and Elizabeth (Wayne) Gurr; her three grandchildren, David (Roxanne) Arnold, Lilianna Gurr, and Steven Gurr; and her three great-grandchildren, Genevieve Gurr, Autumn Cole, and Kaitlyn Watterud. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Vibbert of Sellersburg, Indiana; her nephews, Brian Burgess of Clarksville, Indiana, and Clay (Genevieve) Vibbert of Henryville, Indiana; her niece, Kim (Adam) Olliges of Louisville, Kentucky; and her late husband's family.

Barbara was a devoted member of the New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene in South Bend, Indiana. She cherished her time at church, attending Bible study, and taking trips with her friends, Cindy and Bill. Barbara had unshakable faith and loved the Lord.

     Barbara was a kind and loving person who deeply cherished her family and friends, especially fond of her newest great granddaughter, Genevieve. She loved spending time with them and always made them feel special. Her favorite flower was the sunflower, which reflected her bright and cheerful personality. Barbara was always there for everyone; she never met a stranger. There was never a challenge presented that she couldn't figure out, embodying resilience and determination. She supported her grandchildren in all their extracurricular activities and was a constant source of encouragement and love.

     In her free time, Barbara enjoyed counted cross-stitch, coloring, reading, bowling, cooking, and spending quality time with her friends and family.

     Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00PM – 6:00 PM, at New Beginnings Fellowship Church of the Nazarene, 19688 Kern Rd South Bend IN 46614. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 PM in the Church, with a dinner to follow.
