Dale R. Hemphill, 82, of Mishawaka passed away on November 15, 2024, after a year long battle with cancer. Dale was born to the late Richard and Martha (Miller) Hemphill on September 17, 1942, in Berrien Springs, MI. Dale joined the U.S. Navy after graduating high school in 1960. He served honorably until 1966 when he returned to the Michiana area where he worked in the RV industry. Dale was also the owner and president of Forgotten Heros ltd.- Spirit of America. Dale married Diane Mestach in Plant City, FL, on May 15, 1998.
Dale is survived by his wife, Diane Mestach-Hemphill, with whom he was together for 17 years before getting married. They shared 26 happy years as husband and wife, for a total of 43 years together. He is also survived by his children, Juli Kigar and Tim Hemphill; grandchildren, Serra and Maddux; great grandchildren, Willow and Oliver; siblings, Carl and Tom Hemphill, Robert Yenna, Ramona Balos, and Louie Artley; and many extended family members, friends and his beloved dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandy Olsen.
Dale’s patriotic spirit was well known in the area through his company Forgotten Heros ltd. – Spirit of America. During his time owning and running the company Dale designed several flags to be flown alongside the American flag to honor and commemorate veterans. Many people recognized him by his company van that was painted with American flags and eagles. Dale also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 1-2 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A funeral service will be held immediately following in the funeral home at 2 p.m. and end with military honors.
