Darlene Axell Obituary

    On December 19, 2024, Elder Darlene J. Axell was called home to be with the Lord. Her most dear greetings were, “Praise the Lord,” “God Bless You,” and “God is good!”

    Elder Darlene J. Axell leaves behind to carry on her legacy, her children, Ronee (Azel Kellybrew), Carl Axell, Frank Axell, Ja’Lloyd (Christina) Porter, Soraya (Bradley Sr.) Lewis, John (Danielle) Porter III; her grandchildren, Christopher (Jannifer) Axell, Jasmine (DeAndre Fishburn Powell) Axell, Satish Axell, Brittany Axell, Samantha Axell, Adam Winston, JaMarcus Porter, Amari Winston, JaMya Porter, Bra’Shawn Lewis, Bradley Lewis Jr., Jamie Lewis, Braya Lewis, John Porter IV, Marshawn Porter; a host of great-grandchildren; her siblings, Deborah Axell, Vernon Allen, Timothy Allen, and Richard Axell as well as many extended family members and friends. Elder Axell was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Beverly Axell and her siblings, Naomi Axell, Tracy Axell and Francis “Buster” Axell Jr.

    Elder Darlene received her education in Massachusetts Public Schools and the University of Boston where she completed her degree of Liberal Arts. She went on to graduate from Bethel College in Mishawaka which is affiliated with her Evangelical Christian Missionary. Elder Darlene J. Axell was an ordained Minister of the Gospel. She was called to teach and preach the Word of God from Boston to Indiana. Elder Axell was spiritually gifted with gifts of the Spirit and was a great help to ALL who sought out her counsel.  Elder Darlene J. Axell’s journey as a Minister of Christ was marked for her even before she was called into the ministry. She studied the Bible; expanding her knowledge in ministry in a faith based environment.

    Elder Axell enjoyed working for the State FSSA Social Services for 19 years. Elder Axell worked at the YWCA helping women in the domestic violence department as well as for the Ducomb Center — House Arrest, Work Release, and Jailed Inmates Program as a correctional officer.

    Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, December 26, from 12PM - 1PM in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN, 46544. A Celebration of Elder Darlene Axell's life will be held at 1PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in Elder Axell's honor may be made to the family.
