David Owen Moore

David “Dave” Owen Moore, 81, of Lakeville passed away on December 24, 2025. Dave was born to the late Marvin F. and Zeffa R. Moore in South Bend, IN, on December 16, 1944. He went on to grow up in the Michiana area and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. In the navy aboard the USS Forestall working in the engine room. He was recognized for staying at his post for over 24 hours while they were fighting a major fire that started on the deck of the ship.  After serving Dave returned to the area and worked in various trades before he worked for Whitley as a delivery driver. He married the loved of his life, Kathy Ray on July 4, 1990, in Las Vegas, NV. Kathy preceded him in death on March 28, 2025.

Dave is survived by his devoted caregiver and niece, Jessica Booysen and her daughter, Lilah and nephew Joran Ray, and Tom Moore, as well as many extended family members.

Dave enjoyed racing stock cars in his younger years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and he enjoyed tinkering with his tractor in the yard. In his retirement Dave became a history buff and liked to watch documentaries about the U.S. Navy.

A private inurnment will be held, and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Hahn Funeral Home has been entrusted with assisting the family with final arrangements.
