David M. Rothenhoefer

David M. Rothenhoefer, 78, of Granger, IN passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022.  David was born in Mishawaka, IN on March 21, 1944, to the late Carl and Josephine (Barnette) Rothenhoefer.  Also preceding David in death are his siblings, Ann Hayes, Thomas Rothenhoefer and James Rothenhoefer.  He is survived by his son, Michael (Lisa) Rothenhoefer; grandsons John (Elise) Rothenhoefer and Michael (Giselle) Rothenhoefer; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret (Jerry) Woltman; niece, Ellen Hayes; his loving friend of 41 years and 17 years of sharing a partnership of love and caring, Gloria Nyikos; his extended family, Debbie (Pete) McCollester and their children, Dr. Jon and Jessica, Steven Nyikos, Nancy (Paul) Mitchell, Bob (Ronda) Whitmer, Jeff (Stacy) Nyikos and their 3 children, Stevie (Bekah) Nyikos and their 3 children, Oli, Kason and Lettie; and his loving sweet pet, Lucy.

David proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War with an honorable discharge receiving the Purple Heart.  In 2005 David met up with his Army brothers at the Vietnam Wall for the 3rd Sauadron 5th Calvary Black Knights reunion.  True brothers he kept in contact with over the past 17 years.  He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America 1027, VFW Post 1167 and American Legion.  He was a funeral director for Welsheimer Family Funeral Home for over 50 years until his retirement in 2020.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park at 2:00 pm with Military Rites by the VFW 360 and American Legion 161 burial squad.
