Debra Kay Smith, a beacon of love and creativity, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, in Mishawaka, IN, at the age of 65. Born on October 28, 1960, in Rantoul, IL, to Donald and Elaine (Kline) Ebling, Debra's early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family. She carried this warmth throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Donald and Elaine, and her brothers, infant Bobby Ebling and Mark Ebling. Her spirit is carried on by her devoted husband of 37 years, Kenneth Smith; her cherished daughter, Kendra Smith; her caring sister, Carol (Tom) Eichorst. Debra's joy was multiplied by the pitter-patter of paws from her dog, Noel and grand pup, Za, and the laughter and stories shared with her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A woman of many talents, Debra found solace and expression in crafting and art. Her passion for diamond painting was not just a hobby but a way of sharing her inner light with the world. Each piece she created was a reflection of her loving, kind, and creative nature. Debra's artwork became a symbol of her legacy, pieces of her heart left for us to cherish.
Debra was known for her open heart and open door, always ready to listen and lend a hand. She was a mom to everyone, offering guidance, support, and unconditional love. Her kindness was her signature, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those she touched.
