Dennis R. Norkus, 88, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.He was born on June 18, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Peter Paul Norkus and Georgiana (Nicolini) Norkus. After earning his bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from Tri-State College in 1960, Dennis moved from Angola to begin his professional life. On September 1, 1962, he married the love of his life, Barbara, and together they built a life rooted in family, faith, and community.
Dennis worked as an engineer for Uniroyal from 1960 until 1969 before transitioning to the RV industry with StarCraft from 1969 through 1975. In 1975, he leveraged his engineering expertise and entrepreneurial spirit, starting NTA, Inc. with his partner, David Tompos. The business grew into a thriving company, from which he retired in 2007.
Dennis had a lifelong passion for aviation and was an active member of several flying clubs, including the Bremen Sky Knights, the Nappanee Flying Dutchmen, and the South Bend R.C. Club. His interests extended beyond the skies; Dennis was also a proud member of the Michiana Orchid Society and the Uniroyal Foreman’s Club. He was a dedicated parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Above all, Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his children, Karen (Russ) Morris and Paul (Annette) Norkus; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Norkus; and his cherished grandchildren, Timothy and Grace Morris, and Alex and Lily/Brandon Norkus. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Narlock, and brother, Kenneth Norkus.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Georgiana, and his son, Craig Norkus.
His quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and kind nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday August 18, 2025, at 11:am, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Rd, Mishawaka, with visitation 9:30 – 11:00 before the service in church.
