Donald "Don" Brackevelt,a beloved brother, devoted father, proud veteran, and respected member of the Mishawaka community, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on June 3, 2025. Born on May 28, 1943, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Julian and Agnes (Demeske) Brackevelt, Don grew up to live a life marked by service, faith, and love for his family.
After proudly serving his country in the United States Army, Don returned to his roots in Indiana and began a fulfilling career as an assembler for Dodge. His dedication earned him a place in the Dodge Quarter Century Club, celebrating over 25 years of committed service.
Don wore many hats: a parishioner of St. Bavo Catholic Church, a patriotic member of VFW Post 360. His enduring faith and love for his country were second only to the love he had for his family.
His memory will be carried on by his surviving family: his children, Julie Perkins and her husband, David; Donald Brackevelt Jr.; and his cherished grandchildren—Claudia Baloun and her spouse, Kayson; Sidney Wells and her spouse, Dawson; Cole Brackevelt; and Megan Stewart and his loyal twin, Ronald Brackevelt.
It was through his actions that Don taught his family the meaning of hard work, the importance of faith, and the power of love. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Don will remember his wisdom and his hardworking character.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10:00AM in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola.
