Dorothy Mae Jacobsen

May 21, 1935-August 5, 2024

            Dorothy Mae Jacobsen 89 was born to this life on May 21, 1935 in Vigo County, Indiana to Ruth Grace (Strunk) and Harold Eugene Price.  She graduated from Mishawaka High School.

            On April 26, 1951 she married the love of her life, Milo Anton Jacobsen, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in South Bend. 

            In 1968, she received her certified Dental assistant license and worked for Dr. Don Oaks for many years.  She was also an office manager for Berreth Oil and The Window Company. 

            Surviving Dorothy are her two children, Debra (Michael) Mittleman and Gilbert (Judy) Jacobsen. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Brent (Heather) Plummer, Chad (Kelly) Plummer, Breanna (Chad) Shuamber, Christopher (Joanna) Jacobsen, and Paige (Amber) Jacobsen, one step grandchild, Nathan Mittleman; ten great grandchildren, Mason, Ryan (Lauren) Plummer, Brayden and Zachary Plummer, Tyler Jacobsen, Julian DeCook, Berkleigh and Milo Shuamber, and Kendall and Kearnan Foley. She also had many nieces, nephews, and friends.

            Preceding her in death was her husband of 69 years, her parents, a brother Richard Eugene, stepsister Kathleen Lorraine Jacobsen, and a grandchild Ryan Scott Plummer.

            Dorothy was a member of the Mishawaka High School Alumni group, and Red Hats.  She enjoyed gardening, dancing and was an avid reader.  She looked forward to family gatherings especially hosting the annual Christmas Tree Day, family reunions, summers at their Shavehead Lake home, and later winter months in Gulf Shores, Alabama  and traveling.

            Friends may call from 11:30 to 1:30 on Friday, August 9 at the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.  Funeral service will be at 1:30 pm at the funeral home.
