Edith Mae Tyler, 95, known as Grandma Mae to friends and family, was born on May 13, 1929, in South Bend to the late Joseph Damien and Rosanna (Bedore) Fisette.
On April 17th, 1948, in South Bend, Edith Mae Fisette was married to Dwayne A, Tyler who preceded her in death on January 26, 1981.
Along with her husband, three sons also preceded her in death, Daniel Russell Tyler, Michael Joseph Tyler, and Donald William Tyler as well as one daughter, Marcia Ann Tyler. She was also the youngest and last survivor of seven children: Charles Henry, Leonard (Fuzzy) Fisette, Gilda (Clarence) Meiser, Marie (George) Squint, and Lucille (Boots) Luczyk. She was also preceded in death by her beloved cat, “Buddy.”
Surviving Edith are three children, Kenneth (Bonnie) Tyler of Granger, Robert (Joyce) Tyler of Elberfeld, IN, and Jeanne Tyler of Mishawaka. She is also survived by her beloved and cherished grandchildren, Todd (Julie) Tyler of Greenwood, IN, Kimberly (James) Deboe of Granger, David and Brian Tyler of Evansville, IN, and Timothy Tyler of Mishawaka. Along with three very special dearly loved great grandchildren, Kaylee and Tyler Deboe of Granger and Lucy Tyler of Greenwood, IN. Edith or “Grandma Mae “as she was called had one “adopted in heart” daughter, Barb Young.
Edith retired from St. Joseph Regional Medical Center after over 40 years of service as a pharmacy tech. She loved to garden, sew and quilt in her free time. Edith was an avid Chicago CUBS and Notre Dame fan.
A private service will held on Thursday January 23, 2025, at Hahn Funeral Home with burial at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Hahn Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
