Edward T. Homan, Jr. passed away on December 4, 2024, in Fort Wayne IN at Parkview Hospital from complications of pancreatic cancer. Edward was born on August 2, 1952, in Salem Ohio and was the son of the late Alberta and Edward Homan, Sr.
Ed served in the US Army from 1970 – 1972 and received a National Defense Service Medal for honorable active service during the Vietnam War.
Edward married Terri Lyn Wilson on October 1, 1977, at the First Presbyterian church in Mishawaka. They had a wonderful life together and Ed always took very good care of Terri. Ed was thankful for Terri’s excellent care provided by the Logan Center in South Bend/Mishawaka. She will dearly miss him and their Sundays of having brunch cooked by Ed, watching movies and taking naps in their recliners.
Edward was a loyal employee at Crown Flooring in Mishawaka for 46 years. He even helped at Crown while recovering from chemotherapy to be with his friends that became part of his family.
Ed’s passing marks the end of a remarkable life and he will be dearly missed by many friends and family. He had an awesome sense of humor and was always helping his neighbors. Ed was a cat magnet and took care of any cats roaming the neighborhood. He loved all of them and the non-profit animal shelter, All 4 Animals Rescue in Mishawaka, helped Ed place some of the cats in new homes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Terri Lyn (Wilson) Homan of Mishawaka and sister-in-law Regina (Wilson) Rohrbacher and brother-in -law Ron Rohrbacher of Fort Wayne. Regina was his caregiver and travel companion to Indianapolis IU Health for treatment. He was recovering in Fort Wayne so Regina could take care of him until his very sudden death. He is also survived by niece and husband, Carey and Ally Malloy of Chicago and niece Katherine Rohrbacher of Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Orville D. Wilson, of Mishawaka, who became Ed’s mentor and friend and mother-in-law, Virginia Wilson.
He is also survived by brothers Frank, John and Richard, sisters Lynn and Theresa and nieces and nephews in Michigan. He is also survived by his special nephew Christopher Homan of Whitehall, Michigan.
Ed’s family wants to express their heart felt thanks to the medical staff at the South Bend and Mishawaka hospitals, the staff at Michiana Hematology & Oncology of Mishawaka, Summitt Rehabilitation in Fort Wayne IN and special thanks to staff at IU Health in Indianapolis for showing Ed so much compassion and care for the past 6 months.
