Eleanor T. (Houin) DeSchepper

Eleanor Theresa DeSchepper, 97, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.  Eleanor was born in Plymouth, IN on August 7, 1926, to the late Jerome and Ethel (Fox) Houin.  On August 25, 1951, in Plymouth she married Edwin DeSchepper who preceded her in death on November 21, 2013.  She is also preceded in death by sons, David DeSchepper and Dennis DeSchepper; daughter, Susan DeSchepper; sisters, Lucille Hazen, Nadine Zahm, Patricia Pentlow and Margaret Faulstich; and brother, Donald Houin.  She is survived by her sons, Douglas (Debbie) DeSchepper, Dale (Lynn) DeSchepper, Donald (Tracey) DeSchepper and Daniel (Stefani) DeSchepper; grandchildren, Allen, Nicole, Jerome, Lindsey, Tony, Mark, Kevin, Jesse, Korey, Darien, Caitlin, Heather, Holly, Hannah, Nathaniel, Kara, and Kaitlyn; and 19 great-grandchildren. 

Eleanor and Edwin were farmers and owners of DeSchepper Farm Supply in Wyatt, IN.  She was a member of the St. Dominics Catholic Church in Bremen where she was part of the Altar Rosary Society. In October, Eleanor received the first printed copy of her autobiography and was able to share it with nieces, nephews, and her grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends from 2 pm-6 pm on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka with Vigil Prayers at 5:45 pm in the funeral home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am on Monday, November 6, 2023, at St. Dominic Church, 803 W. Bike St. Bremen, IN 46506 with visitation from 9:30-10:45 am at the church. A burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery.
