Obituary

Granger, IN-Elizabeth “Betty” Schultz, 94, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021.  She was born on February 5, 1927, in South Bend to Louis and Mary (Kish) Horvath.  On October 26, 1963, she married Henry Schultz who survives.  Betty graduated from Our Lady of Hungary Grade School and Riley High School.  In 1944 she went to work for Oliver Farm Equipment, which was later known as White Farm Equipment and worked there for 31 years.  She was secretary of Local #1096 for a time.  She enjoyed bowling at the Elks where she served as President of Elks Tues. Ladies Morning League.  She also enjoyed playing golf and doing crossword puzzles.  She was a member of the American Legion #161 for over 50 years.  She was proud to be a lifetime member of the Marine Corp League of Auxiliary where she served as President for several years.

Betty was never fortunate to have children but she did have what she called her 4-legged kids.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William “Bela” Horvath; and her 4 legged kids, Samatha, Gigi, Missy, and Abby.  She is survived by her husband, Henry “Hank” Schultz; 4 nieces, Billie Jo (Danny) Clevenger, Kathy (Jerry) Jones, Debbie (Tim) Ramer, and Tony (Brad) Martin; two 4-legged kids, Heidi and Bommer; several friends that were like the sisters she never had, Bea Ansburg, Carol Ditsch, and Mary Ann Stanton; as well as several great-nieces & nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

No services will be held at this time.  Hahn Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. 

Donations can be made in Betty’s name to Pet Refuge or St. Joseph County Humane Society.
