Erma Rose (Pozsgai) Salay

Erma Rose Salay, 89, of South Bend, entered eternal life on November 9, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. Erma was born in South Bend, IN on April 26, 1934 to the late Stephen and Theresa (Vargo) Pozsgai. Erma was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, John A. Salay; sisters, Delores Stankiewicz, Mary Ann Hanson, Helen Pozsgai, and Katherine Cooper; and brothers Paul Pozsgai and Stephen Pozsgai, Jr. She is survived by her son, John Paul Salay; her sisters Barbara (Mike) Norris, Elizabeth Delchambre, and brother John Pozsgai, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Erma worked at Circle of Mercy Day Care, as well as Weimens and Weisburgers. After she married, she was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family, hosting many holiday celebrations. Erma was an avid reader and terrific cook, specializing in Hungarian cuisine. Most of all, Erma was a devout Christian with a strong faith in Christ her Savior and a love for Bible study. She was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Woodland (Mishawaka), IN.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 16th, from 10am-12pm EST at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Woodland, 15697 New Rd, Mishawaka, IN 46544. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 12pm EST. Erma  will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery.
