Evelyn R. (Schosker) Steinbaugh

Evelyn R. Steinbaugh, 92, of Mishawaka, IN passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, in her home.  Evelyn was born in South Bend, IN on February 10, 1930, to the late Henry and Nellie (Elkins) Schosker.  On March 18, 1950, in South Bend she married the late Vertsel “Jay” Steinbaugh who preceded her in death on January 5, 2010.  She is also preceded in death by her son, Brian Steinbaugh; brother, Elwood Schosker; and sister, Sharon Schosker.  She is survived by her daughters, Christine (Andres) Meyer and Karen (Art) DeWitt; her sons, Dennis Steinbaugh and Bruce Steinbaugh; grandchildren, Arthur (Tabby) DeWitt, Daniel Steinbaugh and Brian DeWitt; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles (Doloris) Schosker. 

Evelyn was a teacher’s assistant for the Penn Harris Madison School District for over 26 years until her retirement in 1995 working at Boner and Walt Disney schools.  She is a member of the PHM ESP Retirement Group, Riley lunch bunch, and Michiana Music for Life. 

Family was very important to Evelyn and she loved having them all gather together.  She was lovingly cared for by Karen, Bruce and her granddaughter-in-law, Tabby. 

The family will receive friends from 2 pm-4 pm on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.  Funeral Service will be held at 10 am, Monday, December 12th at the funeral home with visitation 1 hour prior.  Evelyn will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
