Frank Stopper Obituary

Frank Stopper, a beloved family man, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024, at the age of 84, in the same town where his story began. Born on February 3, 1940, to Joseph and Katherine (Lacopo) Stopper, Frank's life was one marked by devotion, joy, and the simple pleasures of life.

Frank's journey alongside his loving wife, Geraldine "Jeri" Fogarty, began on June 21, 1958, a union that flourished until Jeri's passing on January 6, 2004. Together, they raised a vibrant family that included two daughters, Christine (Dave) Sheaks and Shari (Jeff) Cerney. Frank found love once again when he married Verlie Acrey Morin on November 26, 2004. Verlie brought new joy and companionship into Frank's life, as well as three stepsons, Daniel Morin, who preceded Frank in death, and John Morin and Thomas Morin.

His brother, Jack (Connie) Stopper, remains to honor Frank's memory, while his brothers Robert "Bob," John, and Joseph Stopper, have all preceded him in death.

Frank's legacy also continues through his adoring grandchildren, Nick (Jessica) Cerney, Josh (Jen) Cerney, Jeff (Stacie) Nyikos, Ryan (Krista) Sheaks, and Aimee (Brandon) Egger. As well as his 14 great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren.

A man of many interests, Frank found joy in the serenity of golfing, often frequenting the greens where he forged lasting friendships and memorable moments. His love for Englewood, Florida, was evident in the countless hours he spent basking in its warmth. Frank's passion for fishing was more than a hobby; it reflected his patience and appreciation for nature. Equally, his love for playing cards was a conduit for laughter and camaraderie, a pastime that brought him immense pleasure.

A private burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Hahn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements. If you would like to make a donation in remembrance of Frank, you may make them to Center for Hospice Care, 501 comfort Pl, Mishawaka.
