Garry Takacs, a cherished family man, passed away on September 21, 2024, in Mishawaka, Indiana, at the age of 81. Born on October 19, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, to William and Margaret (Fekete) Takacs, Garry led a life marked by love, knowledge, and kindness.
A proud holder of a bachelor's degree from Kent State and a MBA from Pepperdine, Garry's commitment to education was second only to his dedication to his family. He was an avid supporter of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State. Garry was also a passionate cook who relished trying new restaurants and new foods. Garry found great fulfillment in his work at Indiana Transport, having worked there for 7 years. If you asked someone to describe Garry, the words that might come to mind are intelligent, sophisticated, and deeply patriotic. Its thanks to these traits that Garry embodied a spirit of curiosity and pride.
He is survived by his loving children, Stephanie (Alan) Morton and Scott (Teresa) Takacs, his precious grandchildren and a great-grandchild who brightened his days. He was a dear brother to Cyndi Eicher, Carol Fouch, and Alan Takacs.
Garry was greeted in eternity by his beloved wife, Sydney (Polson) Takacs, who preceded him in passing. His legacy of warmth and generosity will live on through the rich tapestry of memories he leaves behind. Garry's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the strength of family bonds.
Private services with military honors will be held at a later date.
