George Danneker

George Edward Danneker, 83, departed this life on 4/25/2021 in Memorial Hospital.  George was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on 4/18/1938 to Caroline and Harry Danneker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Phyllis Kendle; and his brother, Paul Danneker.  He will be remembered by his nieces, Christine (Thomas) Rupard and Janet Johnson; great-niece, Katie (Chad) Rink; and great-nephew Nick (Julie Taylor) Rupard.  He also leaves behind many special friends. There were no strangers in George’s life and his motto seemed to be “Because Nice Matters” which is prominently displayed over his kitchen door.

George was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, a retiree of Uniroyal Corp, and had been a member of the army reserves.

The holidays, especially Christmas, were George’s favorite times of year.  His home was always decorated from top to bottom and you felt as if you were entering Santa’s workshop with a touch of elegance and style.  And it wouldn’t have been Christmas without his kieflies or fruitcake.  George lived to be outside and took the utmost care to make his yard the neighborhood showcase.  He also enjoyed having dinner parties to mark the holidays and show off his cooking skills.  To say that George put his love into each meal is an understatement...each meal had to have special flowers and a treat for each person.  Whether eating indoors or outdoors there was always an abundant serving of food and love.  Take-home containers were always provided.  His home was a gathering place for all birthdays and holidays.  He lived for shopping as well whether it was for food, clothing, treats for his dog or presents, he could not resist a bargain!!

Cremation has taken place and a private service has been planned.  Hahn Funeral Home of Mishawaka, IN will be handling the arrangements.
