George Dennis Preissing

George Dennis Preissing, 90, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, in South Bend.

George was born on January 9, 1934, in Chicago, IL to Walter Eugene and A. Katherine (Harrington) Preissing. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jane Ann Preissing; brother, Walter Preissing; and grandson, Jason Midla.

In 1958, George married Juliana Steffen. Later he married Paulette Jyl Todd. In 2002, he married Alice Neal, who preceded him in death on January 1, 2024.

Surviving are his children, Jennifer (Doug) Hill, Christopher (Carrie Sandahl) Preissing, Mary (Todd) Midla, Patrick (Trisha) Preissing, Cristopher (Kristie) Preissing and Noah (Jessica) Preissing, 20 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

George worked for CPS Industries for 25 years before retiring. After retiring he also worked for 9 years at Corvilla, a home for those with developmental disabilities. He was a Veteran of the United States Army where he excelled at basketball and baseball when he was stationed in Alaska.

George—or as he was known to many extended family members as "Uncle Denny"—could often be found at the bowling alley, in a field hitting golf balls, or reading a good book. He loved his family and family events. 

As per George’s wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest with his parents in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plains, Illinois. Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka has been entrusted with handling the final arrangements.
