Gloria Jean (Candoli) Henke

Gloria Jean (Candoli) Henke passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 23, 2024.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was born on April 7, 1930, and lived her adult life in Mishawaka, IN.  Gloria was the wife of Warren (Bud) Henke (1923-2020) and the daughter of Antonio and Esther (Medri) Candoli, both preceded her in their death.  Also preceded in her death are her two brothers, Pete Candoli and Conte Candoli.  Gloria has two sons, Mark (Jane) Henke & Scott (Nicole) Henke; she also has a daughter, Toni (Larry) Henke-Wheeler.  Warren and Gloria have eight grandsons, Lee (Kristel) Wheeler, Chris Wheeler, Collin (Glynis) Henke, Justin Henke, Garrett (Samantha) Henke, Grant (Makenzie) Henke, Bryson Henke & Cayden Henke; along with five great-grandchildren, Westen & Nolan Wheeler, Becca & Kiersten Henke and Oren Henke.

            She attended Mishawaka High School and IUSB.  Warren and Gloria were married on September 6, 1952.  Gloria was employed by the Mishawaka School system, mainly at Battel School for several years.    

Gloria will always be remembered for her unwavering love, support and dedication to her family and friends, her nurturing approach to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Countless examples of kindness and support they provided to their families are remembered for both Gloria and Warren.          

The Henke Family would like to acknowledge Ascent Hospice Care for their outstanding care and treatment of Gloria, especially Denise. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 26, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Hahn Funeral Home 505 W. 8th Street Mishawaka.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in St. Bavo’s Church 501 W. 7th Street Mishawaka with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mishawaka.               

In lieu of flowers, Gloria has requested that donations be made to the Riley Children’s Hospital of Indianapolis, IN (705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46202, 317-944-5000); or, the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital of Memphis, TN (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).  Or simply spend extra time with your family & friends, she would love to hear that.
