Greg Reesor Obituary

Greg Reesor, 73, of Granger, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 15, 2021.

Born May 12, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan, Greg was the son of Claude and Katherine (Donnelly) Reesor.  Greg moved to Arizona in his early 20s, and graduated from the University of Arizona in 1972.  While living in Tucson, Greg met (and married) the great love of his life, Ruth Riney on January 5, 1974.  Greg and Ruth were happily married 47 years until his death.  Together they moved across the country, first to New Mexico, then Wisconsin, and finally to Indiana where they settled down in Granger and raised three daughters.  Greg worked many years for Whirlpool Corporation, and then after his retirement he went back to work at St. Joseph School in Mishawaka.  Greg was known among his colleagues as a hard worker, a great salesman, and a sympathetic ear.  He seldom passed up an opportunity to meet his work friends for coffee, and did so every week even after he retired.  A devoted Catholic, Greg and his wife enjoyed doing stewardship together for their parish, St. Pius X in Granger.

Greg is remembered by all who knew him as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a passionate fan of Notre Dame football and Detroit Red Wings hockey, a master of the backyard barbeque, a gifted story teller, and very skilled on a pool table.  Greg was a devoted family man, and enjoyed nothing more than coming home from work to spend time with his wife and children.  To his grandkids he was simply “Grandpa,” and he loved to read to them, take them for rides on his lawnmower, and make special trips to the supermarket to buy their favorite treats and snacks.

Greg is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer (Jeremy) Bush, Heather (Ryan) Painter, and Courtney (Bradley) Thornton; six grandchildren, Jacob Bush, Jillian Bush, Noah Painter, Ella Painter, Daphney Thornton, and Leo Thornton; and two sisters, Nannette (Hank) Dickel, and Christi (Rob) Meyers.  He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Katherine, his son-in-law Jeremy Bush, and his best four-legged friend, Delaney Rose.

A memorial service will be held to honor Greg’s life on Monday, July 26, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with a public mass to follow, and then burial at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend.  Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544 has been entrusted in making the arrangements.
