Irene L. Evans

     Irene L Evans, 98, of Mishawaka passed away on Friday December 5, 2025. In Raclin House Mishawaka.

     Irene was born on December 25, 1925, in Chicago, IL as the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Bluemke) Zawadzki.  Irene married Frank Joseph Evans, and he preceded her in death in 1962.

     Together they had two daughters, Vicki Jacobs, and Diana Sandefur of Mishawaka, also surviving are her grandchildren, Joseph (Heather Visari) Sandefur, Adam (Cyndi) Sandefur, Nick Sandefur, Jeremy “Hubba” Sandefur, Allen Jacobs, Rachel Jacobs, and her bonus grandchild Kaylan Chaput ; great grandchildren, Evan, Garrett, Gunnar, Edward, Ariana Jacobs.

     Irene was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Vicki Jacobs, and son-in-law Robert Sandefur.

     Irene will be remembered for her love of knitting, gardening, listening to country / music and playing cards with her friends Mary, Gregg and Brett. She worked for 40 plus years at Fannie May Candies, South Bend and after retirement volunteered for many years at the College Football Hall of Fame. She was an avid bird watcher and loved all things outdoors and nature.

     Visitation will be on Friday December 12, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM in Hahn Funeral Home 505 W. 8th street Mishawaka, with funeral services to begin at 6:00 PM, in the funeral home.  Cremation will follow services and private burial will take place.   

     Irene's family would like to give a special thank you to Irene’s friend and neighbor Wesley, who graciously helped to take care of her through out the years.
