James Britton Obituary

James Maurice Britton, age 75, of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025.

Born July 25, 1950, in Mishawaka, Indiana, James was the son of Glen Britton and Lorraine (Pringels) Britton. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, a duty he carried with quiet honor throughout his life.

On September 25, 1971, James married the love of his life, Linda (Hunt) Britton. Together, they built a strong and loving family, raising two children: Jim (Sheila) Britton and Julie Ann (Eric) Gidion. He was a devoted grandfather to James Britton III, Justin (Rileigh) Britton, Avery Flippo, and Cecily Gidion, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

James spent his career working as a telecommunications manager, where he was known for his steady leadership and work ethic. Outside of work, he was deeply involved in his community. He was a longtime member of the B-K Club, where he enjoyed Belgian bolling, and a proud member of the Clay Lions Club and the Michigan High School Athletic Association.

A passionate supporter of youth sports, James served for many years as a Little League coach and umpire for the east side of South Bend, impacting countless young athletes with his patience, knowledge, and encouragement.

James had such a big heart, always ready with a helping hand, a warm smile, or a kind word. He will be remembered for his deep generosity, his sense of humor, and the love he showed in everyday moments. He especially cherished playing cards and watching movies with his family, finding joy in the simple time spent together. His family was the center of his world, and nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by those he loved most.
