Mishawaka, IN - James Daniel Cox, “Danny”, 65, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 22, 2021. He was born in Great Lakes, IL on December 28, 1955 to the late Harley and Naomi (Dolan) Cox. After traveling the country following his father’s naval career, Danny grew up to spent much of his adult life working as a proud Journeyman electrician for Local #130 in New Orleans, LA. He lived a colorful life, both professionally and personally. From working on oil rigs out in the Gulf of Mexico to helping to build ships for the U.S. Navy, he was known as a Jack of All Trades and a handyman through and through. As a certified Scuba Diver he loved to explore coral reefs and go sailing with friends. Diagnosed with cancer in 2010, he fought heroically to achieve remission in 2013 where he retired early and enjoyed the last years of his life fishing, tinkering in his garage, riding his motorcycle, and listening to his collection of jazz and the blues. He was also quite the story teller, making friends and even strangers laugh at his zany adventures and enthusiastic impressions. Danny is survived lovingly by his daughter, Lourie “Gabby” Cox; sister, Laurie D. Lynch; and brothers, Steven E. Cox and Matthew A. Cox.
