James Alan Garrard, fondly known as Jim, passed away surrounded by love on March 2, 2025, in South Bend, Indiana. Jim was born on September 25, 1956, in Mishawaka, IN, to the late Bernard L. Garrard and Margaret (Carner) Garrard.
Jim's legacy continues through his loving companion, Jeannie Geissler, and the mother of his children Geri Garrard, his cherished children, Sarah (Spencer) Garrard and Alan (Danielle) Garrard, His siblings, Becky Siderits, Cindy (Mark) Marchi, David (Kathy) Garrard, Mike Garrard, Julie (Mark) Modlin, and Thomas (Laura) Garrard. Jim will be remembered for his sense of humor and his orneriness.
Jim loved his life in Florida, where he enjoyed boating, playing pickleball, and spending time outdoors. He was an avid beach walker, often taking long strolls along the shores of Englewood, where Jim became well known as the best shark tooth hunter in the area. He spent many hours savoring the Florida coastline. He took great joy in walking his dogs, Chase, and Ruger.
Jim was an active member of the local AA community, where he had many friends who cared for him deeply. He valued his time spent in AA meetings, especially the Sunday yoga sessions and beach meetings, which provided him with a sense of peace and connection. Jim’s circle of friends and loved ones admired his spirit, humor, and unwavering commitment to living a life of integrity and love.
Jim's life was a testament to the love he gave and the unwavering courage with which he faced every day. Those who knew him will remember a life lived with genuine enthusiasm and a smile that could light up any room. Jim's memory will forever be a beacon of joy and kindness in the hearts of all who loved him.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday March 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM- 7:00 PM, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th St. Mishawaka. Funeral Services to follow at 7:00PM in Hahn Funeral Home, with Father Chris Lapp officiating.
