James Alan Speake, 60, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away on February 10, 2025, in Mishawaka, after an enriching life filled with love, music, and joy. Born on September 26, 1964, to parents Carl Eugene Speake and Nancy Jean (Smolka) Speake.
James shared a blissful marriage with his wife, Kimberly Speake, whom he married on July 27, 2013. He is lovingly remembered by his brother, John (Jackie) Speake; his niece Amanda VanHuffel; and nephews, James and Michael (Trisha) VanHuffel; his aunts, Shirley Jones, Karen Shwatz, Jan (Rob) Zelasko, Verna Kline, and Ida Kline, sister- in-law, Colleen Andert, as well as numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends, also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy.
He was a devoted fan of Norte Dame. One of James’s biggest passions in life was music. James played the drums for local bands over the years such as “House Arrest” in the 90’s and “Shoot Magoo.” One of his favorite bands that he enjoyed listening to was the Beatles. Some of his most cherished possessions in life were his dogs, Boomy, Taco, Jake, and Duke, who brought immense joy to his life. His trips to Cedar Point, and riding his motorcycle were always the highlights of his summers. James's legacy is one of warmth, fun, and the enduring power of a heartfelt melody.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th St. Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 12:00 PM in Hahn Funeral Home, with a visitation one hour prior. A burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, 375 W Cleveland Rd, Granger.
