James “Jim” W. Carter, went home peacefully, to be with his wife, Mary Jo, in the loving presence of his children on November 30, 2024.
Jim came into this world on April 12, 1935, born to John Carter and Mary Klein Seeger. He was taught by the Nuns of St. Matthews and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1952.
In 1957, he married Mary Jo Huys, the absolute love of his life, and spent 63 years of marriage together. Jim and Mary Jo were so devoted to each other, they renewed their vows at 25 years, 50 years and again at 60 years.
Jim and Mary Jo had four children, Christine (Scott) Eggers, Mike (Sharron) Carter, Cathy (Robert) Gentry and Michele Carter; four grandchildren, Courtney Miars, Allyson (Chris) Eberhardt, Carley (Tom) Hopper, McKenna (Jess Dooley) Carter; five great grandchildren, Cody, Wyatt, Kendall, Jackson and Carter.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo; father, John Carter; mother, Mary Klein Seeger and stepfather, Jake Seeger.
Jim retired from the US Post Office after 30 years of service. He then did what he loved most, became a Disc Jockey for WSND, playing music for his Sunday Night Program, SHOWTIME, spending 29 years making music for his dedicated listeners, just retiring last year.
Jim spent 16 years as an active Army Reservist, Sargent Major, before being honorably discharged.
Jim loved life, family, friends, music and a glass of wine. Jim will be missed but is now resting peacefully with Mary Jo at his side.
On December 10, 2024, a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 PM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Rd, Mishawaka, with visitation one hour prior in the church. A burial will be held at a later date.
