James "Jim" Rodts

James A, Rodts, 75, of Mishawaka passed away peacefully in his sleep at 1:59 P.M. on May 10, 2023, at Primrose Retirement Community in Mishawaka, IN.

Jim was born on June 27, 1947, in Mishawaka, IN to Alfons Rodts and Mary Dooms Rodts and was a lifelong Mishawaka resident.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim was a 1965 graduate of Mishawaka High School. Following school, he enlisted in the Army and later would become a dedicated Mishawaka firefighter.

Jim was a lifelong Dodger fan.  He was also a Colts fan while they were in Baltimore and became a season ticket holder when they moved to Indianapolis.  Jim’s knowledge of sports led him to write sport articles for the Mishawaka Enterprise.

On October 18, 1986, Jim married Sandy Bare at St. Bavo Church.  They were married for 30 years.

Jim was a member of St. Bavo parish for most of his life and served the church as an usher.  Jim was a member of the BK Club and Belgian bolled for many years.

To honor Jim’s wishes, cremation will take place and a reception for family and friends will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, from 4 pm-6 pm at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka with a rosary to be recited at 5:45 pm.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Bavo Church in Mishawaka at 10 am on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, with Father Pete Pacini officiating.
