Jimmy Dale Randolph, 82, went to meet his Lord and Savior on January 22, 2023.
Jimmy was born in Cookeville, Tennessee, on May 2, 1940, to the late James and Johnnie (Tucker) Randolph. After graduating from Hazel Park High School in 1958, he married his beloved wife, Lawana Kaye Wilson, who survives him, and they moved to Mishawaka, Indiana, in 1966, where they raised their five children.
Together with his wife, Jimmy forged a family unit that was close. He never hesitated to verbalize his love, often showering his family with compliments, and making sure they knew he was proud of them. Though he worked six days a week, he managed to squeeze in neighborhood bike rides, trips to the park, drives in the country, and plenty of Sunday family lunches. He always prioritized family reunions and made sure to take his wife on annual anniversary trips.
Jimmy owned and operated Star Tire in Elkhart, Indiana, for 38 years until he retired in February 2014, at age 74. He was a businessman with integrity, well-loved and respected by both his employees and his customers. He and his wife were members of Twin Branch Bible Church since 1967, where he served as an usher, deacon, and elder.
Jimmy never hesitated to tell his family how much he loved them, and he gave the best hugs imaginable. He was a loving and affectionate husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His generosity was apparent to all who knew him. These last several years have been tough for his family. Although he was strong in both spirit and body, it was heartbreaking to witness him go through open-heart surgery and slowly decline through dementia. However, he never wavered in demonstrating his love, and until the very end, he cherished the neck rubs, the handholding, and the kisses that were showered on him.
He was stoic but sweet; stubborn, but a softy at heart. He loved popcorn, classic cars, gospel music, and vanilla milkshakes. Most of all, though, he loved his family. He will be sorely missed.
Besides his wife, Jimmy is survived by his sister, Patricia (Jim) Myers, and his brother, Michael (Shirley) Randolph. He is also survived by his five children: Julie (Randy) Schlundt, John (Jenny) Randolph, Jennifer (Jim) Phillips, Joanna (James) Heinen, and Jessica (John) Dilling. Fourteen grandchildren survive him: Sarah (Adam) Tepper, Emily (Malinda) Lasater, Nate Schlundt, Marvin Sandoval, Michelle (Ryan Kellermeyer) Randolph, Micah (Stephanie) Randolph, Malachi Randolph, Moriah Randolph, Micaiah Randolph, Erica (Neal) Nunaley, Michael (Julie) Phillips, Madison Heinen, Ian Dilling, and Rebecca Dilling. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren: Alana Sandoval, Mara Sandoval, Leah Tepper, Anna Tepper, Margaret Tepper, Isaiah Randolph, Levi Randolph, Jakin Randolph, Bethany Randolph, Wyatt Nunaley, Willow Nunaley, Ella Nunaley, and Scarlett Nunaley.
