Joan VanDerHagen, 91, beloved mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 25, 2023. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. Joan's memory will be forever held in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Joan was born on October 23, 1932, in South Bend, IN to the late Frank M. and Lottie (Budzinski) Izdepski. On September 6, 1952, she married William M. VanDerHagen.
Joan is survived by her children, each of whom she loved dearly: Tami (Dick) Stillson, Debbie Bogaert, Ric VanDerHagen, Linda Dix, Marcy VanDerHagen, Barb (Dave) Marley, and Steve (Stacey) VanDerHagen. She was not only their mother, but their guiding light, offering love, support, and wisdom throughout their lives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill VanDerHagen.
As a grandmother, Joan brought joy and warmth into the lives of her grandchildren: Rik (Erica) Stillson, Lindsey (Brian) Roth, Emily (L.A) High, Dana (Jerry) Livengood, Courtney Bogaert, Ryan (Mao) Dix, Bridget (Jamey) Hosey, Rachel (Timm) Murphy, Samantha (Jack) Favorite, Brandon Combs, Shane VanDerHagen and Claire VanDerHagen along with several great grandchildren. She created precious memories that will be forever treasured and will always be remembered for her Friday night get-togethers.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka with visitation held 2 hours prior.
