John N. Christianson, 82, of Mishawaka passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 19, 2023. John was born to the late Robert and Louise (Testolin) Christianson on December 5, 1940, in Mishawaka, IN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Christianson.
John is survived by his loving wife, Jan Christianson; children, Amy (Brian) Jacoby, Jean (Paul) Richards, Jack (Tammy) Christianson, Patrick (Jennifer) Christianson, and Steve (Julie) Christianson; grandchildren, Anna Jacoby, Sarah Jacoby, Shannon Richards, Connor Richards, Nick Harder, Megan Christianson, William Christianson, Matthew Christianson, Max Christianson, Lily Christianson, Charlie Christianson, Brenner Christianson, and Rylan Christianson; siblings, Louise Christianson of Nehalem, Oregon, Sister Roberta Christianson PHJC of Donaldson, IN and Sister Jean Christianson PHJC of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico as well as many extended family members and friends.
John married the love of his life, Jan (Davis) Christianson in 1963. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves. John attended 2 years at St. Joseph’s College Rensselaer before he felt the calling to the family business, which he successfully led for 50 years. He loved the community of Mishawaka and was very grateful for all the customers who supported Christianson’s Furniture over the years. He mentioned frequently how blessed the family business was to have great people work for the store.
John was a member of many boards in the community over the years and one very dear to his heart was The Women’s Care Center. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Mishawaka and the Knights of Columbus. John never met a stranger. He enjoyed the company of countless friends and especially loved his golf buddies, daily Mass friends, and the Bettors Club.
John loved God, his family, his country and the White Sox. The biggest joy of his life was his family. He couldn’t have been prouder of his children and grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family from 4-7pm at Hahn Funeral Home, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.
The family wishes to express their thanks for the excellent medical care and compassion that John received from the Oncology, Progressive Care and ICU nurses and doctors at St. Joseph Medical Center in Mishawaka.
