John Walls, a cherished family man, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2024, in South Bend, Indiana, at the age of 92. Born on August 5, 1931, in Paoli. Indiana to Charles Oscar Walls and Anna Belle (Lambdin) Walls, John lived a life marked by dedication to his loved ones and a passion for craftsmanship.
John's memory will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Karen (Alan) Steele and Diane Brown. He was a guiding light to his 8 grandchildren, Heidi (Jerome) Koch, Matthew Toliver, Kylie (Rob) Steele-Morehouse, Conner (Krista) Steele, Jessica Willauer, Samantha Walls, Jonathan Walls and Whitney (Clint) Hull; 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great-granddaughter, who will continue to honor his legacy. “Uncle John” will also be remembered by his and Faye’s many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his wife, Faye; son, Joseph Walls; his sister, Pauline Qualkenbush; his brothers, Edward and Nova Walls, and his great-grandson, Bryce Hull.
Throughout his life, John served his community as a milkman, a role that reflected his nurturing spirit. He and his wife, Faye, enjoyed creating beautiful wooden pieces of art to gift to their friends and family. They also spent many happy hours finding treasures at local yard sales in the Paoli area. John was known for his remarkable knack for fixing anything that came his way. Affectionately referred to as "Papaw" by his grandchildren, John's hands were never idle, and everyone knew that if something needed fixing, Papaw could fix it.
Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka has been entrusted with the local arrangements. Graveside services will be held on June 29th, at 11:00 a.m., at Stampers Creek Cemetery, Paoli, IN.
