John "Cookie" Wayne Cook

John “Cookie” Cook, 88, of Mishawaka passed  away on Saturday March 25, 2023, in St. Joseph Medical Center Mishawaka. John was born March 6, 1935, in South Bend as the son of Calvin Sr. and Rose (Schneider) Cook.

On April 28, 1962, in Mishawaka, John married the former Frances De Munck, who survives. He is also survived by their daughter Debbie (Rich) Sparks. Along with many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters; Marie, Clara, Beverly and brothers; Calvin, Donald. John was employed by Dodge Manufacturing and retired from Herman & Goetz Company in 2010.                       

He enjoyed many years of playing softball on a variety of teams including Senior Leagues until age 85.   John won a state tennis title for Riley High School.  He was proud of his vegetable garden and canning of tomatoes, hot peppers, and relish. He was a member of the Eagles Club in Mishawaka and the Mishawaka Euchre Club.   John proudly served his country in the United States Army. 

Visitation for John will be on Thursday, March 30th from 4-7 pm in Hahn Funeral Home 505 W. 8th Street Mishawaka

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 31st at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will in Fairview Cemetery. Mishawaka with military rites conducted by VFW Post 360 / American Legion Post 161 Mishawaka. To leave the family on condolence visit www.hahnfuneralhomes.com.
