Karen Elkins, born on February 2, 1949, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.
Karen was a kind, selfless, and deeply loving woman who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was best known for her big heart, her contagious laugh, and her unwavering devotion to her family. She loved her people fiercely and found joy in the simple things—especially sharing margaritas and memories at Hacienda with those she loved most.
Karen was a familiar face in her community, best known for owning and running My Friends Place, a local bar that became a gathering spot for so many over the years. Everyone in town knew her, and many cherished the memories made under her roof. Later in life, she worked at Meijer, where she made even more lasting connections before retiring.
She is survived by her children, Angela Elkins and Carl Elkins; her brothers, Arthur Mann and Bob Mann; her sister, Evelyn Croy; her granddaughter, Cassie Fike (Wesley Fike); and great-grandchildren Kyler Fike, Paisley Fike, and Harper Fike, who were the light of her life.
Karen is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Carl Elkins, and her sister, Minnie Mann, her brother Warren Mann, Lee Mann, Kelly Mann, mother Mary Mann (Spencer), Arthur Mann, whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Paradigm Hospice team and Nichole Summe for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during Grandma’s final days. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and warmth. Her memory will live on in every shared laugh, every family gathering, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
