Karen (Hyska) Engle Spears

South Bend, IN-Karen Engle Spears, 81, passed away at home on Friday, April 30, 2021.  Karen was born on May 10, 1939, to the late Peter and Helen (West) Hyska.  On July 5, 1986, Karen married James Spears who preceded her in death on February 17, 2015.  They raised 9 children, Terri Engle, Kelly (Fred) Owens, Richard (Ann) Engle Jr., Douglas (Robyn) Engle, David (Marietta) Engle, Dean (Sandi) Engle, James Spears Jr., John (Theresa) Spears, and Joseph Spears; 16 grandchildren, Michelle, Samantha, Barbara, Martha, Jessica, Jackie, Eddie, Robbie, Danielle, Christina, Donnie, Avonlea, Jennifer, Emma, Hannah, Steven, Matthew, and Andrew; and 27 great-grandchildren.  Preceding Karen in death is her parents and brother, John Hyska.

There was never a lonely child with her around.  She was Grandma Karen to each and every child that she met and they were all her family. 

Visitation will be 5 pm-7 pm, Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Hahn Funeral Home in Mishawaka.  Funeral Services will be at 7 pm with Reverend Ron Drake officiating.  Due to current public health and safety standards, social distancing will be enforced and masks required.
