Karen Judith (Kobb) Moore was born on November 19, 1966, in the heart of Mishawaka, Indiana and she completed her earthly journey on December 11, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Karen is survived by the love of her life, Anthony (Tony) Moore. They were married on October 13, 2012. She is also survived by children Tonia Johnson (Tyrone), Carissa Moore, Jovana Kobb, and Dasan Kobb. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren Davian Johnson, Khylin Johnson, and Giovanni Moore. Karen’s nieces Samantha Kobb and Amanda Kobb, her sister, Sharlene Kobb, her brother Carl (Penny) Kobb, and her bonus sister LeAnn Cook will fondly remember Karen’s spirited laughter, sense of humor, and kindness.
Karen was preceded in her heavenly journey by her parents, Arkie J. Kobb and Marilyn J (Crocker) Kobb.
Karen’s professional life centered on helping individuals with intellectual, mental, and physical disabilities grow into the people that God made them to be. Her compassion touched many lives. Her dedication to her work was paralleled only by her commitment to her family and faith.
Karen’s language of love was cooking. She loved to use her skills to cook at events and picnics. When her children were growing up, she used her love of cooking to cook a meal for the families who came to Clay Church’s Tuesday Family Night. She also led a wonderful group of people who fed those who came for Vacation Bible School Celebrations and all-church picnics. Karen was also a ministry partner for Sidewalk Sunday School, an outreach ministry of Clay Church where she was game to help wherever needed. The children loved and still love Ms. Karen. At Monson Community Chapel’s store front community center, she again showed her love for people by making desserts and spending time with those who attended. As an outreach of Monson Community Chapel, Karen and her husband, Tony held Bible Study and served lunch to individuals who had no way to attend church who lived in The William C. Ellison Apartments. The individuals really enjoyed their time with Karen and Tony. Karen loved interacting with the guests at Broadway Christian Parish UMC. She worked with Rev. Jane White-Stevens to make breakfast one day a week. Broadway Christian Parish is where she met Pastor Nancy and so many good friends. Rev. Jane White-Stevens recruited Karen for a mission trip. Karen always had a heart for Africa, Rev. Jane was leading a mission trip and Karen joined. She had a wonderful time in Kenya where she met Bishop Lawrence Owino who remained her and Tony’s friend. Karen’s love of people and serving her Savior resulted in many long-term friendships with people from all walks of life and from all over the world.
Karen had many life-long friends who loved her and will cherish her memory. She loved and prayed for them.
Karen’s warmth and vivacity became a beacon of joy for all who knew her. Karen’s legacy is not just in the lives guided but also in the unwavering strength and love she instilled in her family. Her vibrancy will be deeply missed, but her spirit and the memories that live in the hearts of those she touched will continue to inspire.
